Snow eases SAP Indirect Usage woes with automated detection and license optimization solution
February 28, 2017: Snow Software, the world’s leading developer of Software Asset Management solutions, today announced the latest version of its Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software solution, designed to help organizations around the world manage and optimize SAP licensing. This new release focuses particularly on enhancements to Indirect Usage detection and risk mitigation.
Following a recent ruling in the UK High Court, acknowledging SAP’s right to charge customers for Indirect Usage of SAP systems through third-party applications such as Salesforce, WorkDay and QlikView, Indirect Usage is now cited by SAP customers as their top concern in terms of managing SAP licenses and costs*.
Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software 2.0 helps organizations invested in SAP to optimize their licensing, with specific focus on detecting and minimizing the financial exposure associated with Indirect Usage.
Joachim Paulini, Lead Developer for Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, commented: “Recent weeks have seen Indirect Usage risk move from theory to reality, and this reality is that many organizations could be facing millions of additional unbudgeted cost for their SAP licensing. We believe customers must be vigilant about Indirect Usage. Our mission is to ensure that organizations can benefit by augmenting SAP data from third-party systems but at the right price – paying what is fair but avoiding overspend by using the wrong configuration, or the wrong SAP license types to support third-party application access of the SAP systems.”
Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, which has received top ratings on the Gartner Peer Insights for Software Asset Management, makes it easier for organizations to detect tell-tale signs of Indirect Usage, then manage their licenses to ensure that any user accessing the SAP system via a third party is using the correct and most cost-effective type of SAP license available. To optimize the wider SAP licensing estate, the solution automatically recommends license type changes based on actual user behavior.
Current customers of Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software include: Gebr. Heinemann, Al Futtaim and Bridgestone. The solution is supported by a global network of partners, including KPMG, Deloitte and Anglepoint.
Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software 2.0 will be available to customers from March 30, 2017.
To further help organizations manage SAP Indirect Usage risks, Snow is hosting a live webinar on March 15 exploring the recent court ruling and the implications for SAP customers worldwide. Register here
