Snow addresses challenge of Software Asset Management for SAP with acquisition of Intelligent Licensing Inc.
May 27th 2014, Stockholm, Sweden: Snow Software, the global leader in Software Asset Management (SAM) technologies for end user organizations and service providers, today announced the acquisition of specialist SAM for SAP solutions developer, Intelligent Licensing Corporation.
Led by a team of experienced SAP industry professionals based in the United States, Germany and Switzerland, Intelligent Licensing has built a strong track record in helping enterprises to optimize their investment in SAP technologies and licenses. Under the acquisition, Intelligent Licensing’s SAP-certified Dynamic Licensing Suite will be re-branded Snow Optimizer for SAP(R) Software and become part of the market-leading Snow SAM platform, offering organizations a single-vendor solution to manage all types of software licenses, from desktop to the datacenter.
Snow Software CEO, Axel Kling, explained the business driver for the acquisition of Intelligent Licensing: “SAP licensing is both a major expense for many organizations as well as highly complex to manage, thanks to frequent changes and concepts such as indirect licensing. By incorporating a strong SAP license management capability into our Snow SAM platform, I am confident we will help organizations reduce the risk and cost of a SAP audit.”
Analyst surveys continue to show an increase in the level of SAP audit activity and highlight the complexity of often-customized license models as a real risk to customer organizations.
Carsten Lang, Partner at KPMG, commented: “KPMG is increasingly being asked to help enterprises optimize their licensing for SAP along with other key software vendors. It is our view that SAP licensing optimization is increasingly becoming a mandatory part of most Software Asset Management requirements from our customers today. The solutions from both Snow Software and Intelligent Licensing recently passed the very challenging certification process successfully in our KPMG laboratory in Cologne.”
As well as the acquisition of proven SAP license management technologies, the deal between Snow and Intelligent Licensing sees the addition of senior SAP licensing experts to the Snow global team. Brian Skiba, Intelligent Licensing CEO, will oversee the SAP business at Snow Software: “I am excited to become part of the successful Snow team. I am confident that Snow’s aggressive market expansion combined with our SAP licensing expertise will prove a winning recipe for SAP customers worldwide.”
Following the acquisition, Snow Software will incorporate Intelligent Licensing’s offices into its own operations, bringing the total number of Snow regional offices globally to 12. The development of the SAP technology will remain centered in Hamburg, Germany.
