Snow Software fuels global success story with acquisition of Mobile Device Management technology developer
Feb 18, 2015: Snow Software, the global leader in Software Asset Management (SAM) technologies today announced the full acquisition of Stockholm-based Mobile Device Management (MDM) technology developer, The Institution.
The Institution’s ‘Revival’ MDM solution is already a market-leader in its domestic market, with customers including Scandinavian Airlines and Swedish rail operator, SJ. It enables organizations to manage the full lifecycle of smartphones and tablets across the iOS, Android and Windows platforms.
The acquisition by Snow Software paves way for a new fourth-generation* Software Asset Management platform which extends software license optimization to mobile devices.
Axel Kling, CEO of Snow Software, explained the rationale behind the acquisition: “Business users are now consuming software on many different devices simultaneously, eroding traditional barriers between personal and business computing. To optimize your software use as an organization you need to be able to track your software consumption regardless of what device is used. By adding the expertise of the team from The Institution to our Snow development group, we will be the first SAM vendor to offer effective software license optimization across all platforms, from the mobile device to the desktop, datacenter to the cloud.”
Henrik Wirén, MD at The Institution, added: “This is a very exciting day for all the team and customers at The Institution. To be joining forces with a Swedish-born international success story is a source of pride for us all and we can’t wait to work with our new colleagues to build the future of Software Asset Management.”
Snow Software today delivers the most comprehensive SAM platform available, covering all computing platforms from the desktop estate through to complex IBM, Oracle and SAP datacenter environments as well as tracking the use of applications hosted in the cloud. Extending these optimization capabilities to mobile devices represents a natural evolution of the Snow strengths as well as creating new development opportunities for complementary solutions.
Under the terms of acquisition, Snow Software has purchased all rights and assets of The Institution for an undisclosed sum.
